Nach ein paar eher relaxten Tage in Victoria Falls fährt am nächsten Morgen der Truck los in Richtung Chobe NP. Auf dem Weg dorthin besuchen wir ein Naturprojekt von Interpid. Dort können wir einen Geier ungewohnt nahe beobachten und mir wird von einem kleinen Steinbock der Schweiss vom Bein geleckt.
Nach einingen Stunden Fahrt erreichen wir unseren Zeltplatz beim Chobe NP. Dieser ist an eine tolle Lodge angeschlossen und liegt direkt am Chobe River. Wir bleiben hier zwei Tage.
Am nächsten Tag am Morgen fahren wir in 4WD's los und halten Ausschau nach Tieren im Chobe NP. Die Landschaft hier ist unglaublich und ebenso faszinierend die Menge an Elefanten, die hier leben. Doch auch ein paar weitere Tiere zeigen sich uns. Allen voran freue ich mich eine Eule zu sehen und beim Teestop zeigen sich Hornbils sehr nahe.
Ich bin überwältigt und die Begeisterung lässt nicht nach, als ich die Vielfalt an Vögeln um den Zeltplatz beobachte. Am späteren Nachmittag wartet ein weiteres Highlight. Wir unternehmen eine Bootsfahrt auf dem Chobe River. Krokodile, Vögel, Elefanten, Nilpferde, Gnus,... eine unglaubliche Vielfalt an Tieren zeigt sich uns. Auf dem Deck des Schiffes dürfen wir einen atemberaubenden Sonnenuntergang bewundern. Was für ein Tag. So darf es weiter gehen!
After a few relaxing days in Victoria Falls the next morning the truck leaves for Chobe NP. On the way there we visit a nature project of Interpid. There we can observe a vulture unusually close and I am licked by a small Capricorn, the sweat from the leg.
After a few hours drive we reach our campsite at Chobe NP. This is connected to a great lodge and is located directly on the Chobe River. We stay here for two days.
The next day in the morning, we drive in 4WD's and look out for animals in Chobe NP. The scenery here is incredible and just as fascinating is the amount of elephants that live here. But a few more animals show up to us. First and foremost I am glad to see an owl and at the tea stop Hornbils are very close.
I am overwhelmed and the excitement does not abate as I watch the variety of birds around the campsite. In the late afternoon, another highlight awaits. We take a boat trip on the Chobe River. Crocodiles, birds, elephants, hippos, wildebeest, ... an incredible variety of animals shows up to us. On the deck of the ship we can admire a breathtaking sunset. What a day. So it may go on!
